I first tried mozzarella balls at the PA Farm Show and then tried to replicate them at home. This is a pretty easy way to make fried mozzarella cubes, they come out so smooth and the cheese falls out making them very hard to resist.
Ingredients
1 pound Mozzarella cheese (fresh, cubed)
1 cup bread crumbs (Panko or Italian seasoned bread crumbs)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs
oil (for deep frying, should be enough to cover the mozzarella cubes)
1. Set up 3 shallow bowls or plates. In the first one, put the flour. In the second one, place the breadcrumbs. In the last one, beat the eggs.
2. In a small saucepan, heat the oil to about 360 degrees F (180 degrees C).
3. Dip each mozzarella cube in the flour first and shake off excess. Then dip it in the beaten eggs, then the breadcrumbs (you can repeat dipping in the eggs and breadcrumbs).
4. Working in batches of 3 (or more, if you use a bigger saucepan), lower cubes into oil and fry until light golden brown, about 30 seconds per batch.
5. Transfer to paper towel to drain. Serve immediately.

Made these mozzarella cubes for my husband's birthday, I did bake them instead of frying - excellent result. Everyone loved them. I will be making them again. Thanks for such a great recipe.
These were wonderful! We all enjoyed eating them! They make a great appetizer or part of our Friday night dinner. I usually serve warmed pizza sauce on the side.
